May 17, Mind Control Techniques, 5 Common Mind Control Methods

Mind Control or mind control techniques is a phrase that always had a controversial ring to it. Because it is used to mean one of the two things: controlling one’s own mind, with the objective of improving oneself; or, an attempt to control another person’s mind, either with their consent, or without their prior knowledge – which is where the controversy comes in.

Why control mind?

We know that thoughts can be powerful things. It’s no secret that the thoughts that dominate inside our head are those that ultimately influence our behavior and actions.

So, it follows by controlling thoughts, one can effect a change in behavior.

No wonder mind control techniques have gained in popularity, and are sought after by both, people looking to change themselves, and by those that work on “changing” others – like therapists and hypnotists.

Below are some of the most common mind control methods being pursued today, and whether they are effective in any way.

Mind Control Techniques

1. Subliminal Messages

Subliminal messages are those messages – visual or auditory – that are passed on to our brain by bypassing our normal conscious perceptions. These include visual messages being “flashed” into our brain without giving our eyes a chance to “see” the image, or sounds inaudible to our ears being transmitted directly to our brain.

So, can subliminal messages influence us? That’s a scary notion, isn’t it?

More on Subliminal Messages

2. Brainwave Synchronization

Every little thing we do or think results in neurons communicating with each other inside our brain. These neurons transmit electrical signals between them, generating wavelike patterns called brainwaves.

Different states of our mind result in different frequencies of these brainwaves. So, would it be possible for us to alter brainwaves, to get to a pre-determined state of mind?

More on Brainwave Synchronization

3. Neuro-linguistic Programming

Neuro-linguistic Programming, or NLP, is based on the idea that successful patterns of behavior can be brought about, either in yourself or others, by modifying the underlying thought patterns and interpersonal interactions.

Do NLP techniques work? Are you considering getting yourself trained and certified in NLP techniques?

More on NLP and NLP Training

4. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

CBT is a therapeutic technique that may not typically be associated with “mind control” per se, but it works on the underlying principle of behavior modification based on the corresponding thought modification.

What are CBT techniques used for? How effective are they?

More on Cognitive Behavior Modification

5. Hypnosis

Hypnosis is a mind control technique used by professional hypnotists to get to your suggestible subconscious mind, by bypassing your conscious, analytical mind, with the purpose of implanting positive thoughts or replacing long-held negative beliefs in your mind.

Hypnosis has been used successfully in sports, education, therapy, and in self improvement to improve self confidence, eliminate fears, phobias and bad habits, as well as for relaxation and stress relief benefits. National Institutes of Health has also declared hypnosis effective in reducing certain kinds of pain, including pain from cancer.

More on Self Help Hypnosis

In addition to self help benefits, hypnosis has also been claimed to be useful in altering another person’s thought process for other purposes like negotiation, persuasion or sales.

This model of hypnosis is called Conversational Hypnosis and is based on the techniques developed by American psychiatrist and medical hypnotherapist, Milton H. Erickson.

While a full discussion on Ericksonian Hypnosis techniques is beyond the scope of this website, you can visit the HypnosisDownloads site if you are interested in learning more about them.

May 14, Ways To Deal With Stress, Stress Relief Activities, Stress Relaxation Techniques

Wondering how to relieve stress?

Below are 7 ways to deal with stress, when it comes knocking your door.

Because, in spite of our best efforts to prevent stress, we invariably run into it sometimes, resulting in stress headaches and more.

And when that happens, one of the following stress relief activities will help you get through it.

7 Stress Relief Activities

1. Breathe

Breathing is one of the easiest ways to deal with stress, that produces immediate stress relief. Controlled breathing relaxes the tightened muscles, quietens the mind chatter, and this has a direct effect on reducing stress or controlling anger felt by body, and mind.
Woman - breathing is one of the best stress relaxation techniquesHere is a quick technique:

Sit upright, take a deep breathe in, hold for a few seconds, release it normally and effortlessly, all the while focusing only on your breathing.

Start by repeating these steps for 60 seconds, and increase it to 5, 10, 15 minutes, or however long you can manage it. The longer the duration, the better your stress relief.

If this technique makes you feel better, you may want to try meditation and/or Yoga for stress relief.

There are a few really good DVDs that can guide the uninitiated to get started at home, like:

Yoga for Stress Relief, and

Yoga For Every Body (With Over 35 Routines)

2. Laugh

Laughter is another of the easy ways to relieve stress, but not quite as intuitive as breathing. Simply because it is not the easiest thing to laugh when you are stressed out!
man laughing - laughter is one of the best ways to deal with stress
But you can use tools that make you laugh – like a sitcom or movie you like, or a book of jokes that you know will make you laugh.

Or just visit friends or hang out with some one, whose company you know is bound to put some laughter back into you.

There is clear research that indicates laughter reduces stress hormones released into your body, and increases blood (and oxygen) flow through out your body.

Seen any of those people who laugh away as a group in the park? Well, they are no joke! They belong to a laughter therapy group of some sort.

You don’t need to join a group unless you want to, but you can certainly find other means that you know will make you laugh.

3. Express

There is an eastern saying that joys double and sorrows halve when you share them with some one. Well, there is certainly more than an element of truth in it.

Find some one you trust to discuss your stressful situation and pour your heart out. While you may or may not find a solution to your issue, this exercise will certainly help reduce your stress hormone levels.

If you can’t find someone you trust, jot your feelings down in a piece of paper or your computer, and even that will help.

You can also share your stress triggers here.

4. Massage

While there are several ways to deal with stress, you will probably find this an interesting one to try.

A physical massage is a sure-fire way to relax your stressed out muscles, improve your immune system, and raise your blood flow.

And anything you do to get that calming effect on your body, will relax your mind as well.

5. Music

Listening to music is one of the excellent ways to deal with stress, that you can put to use right away. It is said to alter brain waves in a way that has a calming effect on your mind, as well as your body. This slows down the release of stress hormones into your system.

It can be any music that you like, and one that has a repetitive pattern helps. Sometimes an uninterrupted session of 15-20 minutes may be all you need, to get yourself back on track.

The soothing audios from A Time for Relaxation: Guided Relaxation Techniques for Wellness, a relaxation training audio by Beth Freschi, can also help calm you down.

man cycling in woods - spending time with nature is one of excellent ways to deal with stress

6. Nature

Many people vouch for spending time with nature as one of the best ways to deal with stress.

Think about this. We are all part and byproduct of nature, so isn’t it but natural that spending time with nature should have a positive and restorative effect on us, akin to what a little kid feels when held by its mother!

We don’t necessarily need to hike in woods to get the benefits, a simple walk in the park should do wonders for our stressed nerves, most of time.

7. Exercise

Nothing can overstate the effect physical exercise has on your body, your mind, and your stress levels.

Women working out - exercising is a great stress relief tips
It is particularly good if you had a physically inactive, but mentally and emotionally exhaustive and stressful day; a good physical work out at the end of such a day not only clears your head and improves concentration, but also lowers stress levels.

Exercise relieves stress, and brisk walking is one of the easiest of ways to deal with stress.

Walk at least 30 minutes a day, at a brisk pace, for 4 or 5 days a week depending on your schedule.

Other good stress relief exercises include Tai Chi, Progressive Muscle Relaxation, Yoga and Aerobics.

If you haven’t exercised in a while, consult a doctor before starting any rough physical regimen.

The above ways to deal with stress, along with the other preventive stress management tips, should help us keep a cool head in times of stress, by addressing many of the issues we run into on a daily basis.

If recurring anxiety is what is causing you to be stressed out frequently, here is a short presentation that talks about a natural technique to end anxiety quickly, that can help you overcome stress in the long run.

May 9, Getting Organized, How to Get Organized, How to Be Organized

On this page: The common reason why people don’t organize. Couple of reasons how getting organized can help. And How to Get Organized.

Closet organizational systems, racks, and other storage solutions like garage cabinets and shelves are in an increasing demand these days – which indicates that many people like to be organized.

Being Organized in simplest terms, is being able to easily locate your possessions – material or informational – without putting in a lot of effort; and being able to set them back as needed, just as easily enough.

In other words, being organized is a state of being in control; in control of your space and time.

Why is Getting Organized Important?

Two Reasons..

1.

And they lie in the above definition. Wouldn’t it be cool to have that kind of control on everything going on in our lives? It would at least be convenient for sure.

Convenience improves our efficiency. And that increases our productivity. In other words, more work gets done in the same amount of time, with much less stress. That’s benefit number one.

getting organized reduces clutter

2.

Next, our mind no longer needs to focus, and work, on the physical clutter (search the rubble to locate the keys), or mental clutter (when exactly is that party we need to attend?).

It becomes free, to be able to think out the task at hand.

And a free mind is a creative and confident mind. That’s benefit number two.

For specific ideas and tips related to various areas like organized closets, organized home, or getting organized at work, you can take a look at DeClutter Fast ebook, which is available for instant download.

So why don’t everyone just go ahead and get organized?

One Reason. Overwhelmed.

One look at all the clutter we need to organize, and we are overwhelmed. We are not sure where to start. So we don’t start and procrastinate.

Or we may start but get hung up on something specific, and spend hours on it without getting too far in the overall organizing effort.

Or alternatively we may start everything at once. We jump between tasks, and don’t end up completing anything.

So we work for a while, but without getting the satisfaction of completing anything. That becomes a low return on the energy invested – we recognize that – get demotivated, overwhelmed at the overall effort remaining, and you guessed it, procrastinate again.

What Does Getting Organized Entail?

Two Aspects..

how to be organized lady smiling after organizing desk

1.

Clearing your existing clutter. In other words, focus on how to get organized. This is hopefully a one-time or an as-needed process.

2.

Keeping it that way. In other words, focus on how to stay organized. This is an ongoing process involving daily actions.

In the long run, the convenience and efficiency of having no clutter beats the time invested in getting rid of clutter. There are several books and e-books in the market today that explore this idea.

Here is one such instantly downloadable e-book product, DeClutter Fast by Mimi Tanner, a well-known author on the subject.

DeClutter Fast also provides you specific ideas and tips for organizing various areas like your living space, office area, paperwork, clothing – along with suggestions for essential items that you can buy inexpensively to help you stay organized.

And back to its basic definition, at the end of the day, being organized is having a system for everything. By diligently following the system through such tips, we stay organized on a regular basis, and soon our mind and thought process become organized as well.

When this becomes a second nature to us, we will likely never need to use those steps for clearing our clutter or getting organized again.

May 6, Relationship Break Up Advice – Should You Breakup Or Continue Your Relationship?

couple rings set aside, need relationship break up advice

To break up, or not? Marriage counseling and relationship break up advice.

All relationships will go through a patch where you are not sure if you should stay together; as you are trying to combine two separate lives, this isn’t always easy. Trying to make two separate people agree with every aspect of their lives is a challenge, and some people work through these challenges, while others walk away.

Should you stay together any longer?

There are definitely some occasions when people shouldn’t stay together, and some people do simply grow apart. But most of the time, though, you should look into working through the problems.

For instance, if you find yourself in an abusive relationship, then it will be negative and draining on both people, and more so on the partner being abused. If you really want to make a go at this relationship, then it might help to set ground rules and a time limit, and if things haven’t improved by then, you should consider breaking up. And even if that is upsetting, in the long run it will be better for everyone, than this kind of a relationship.

Another situation where relationship break up advice could be applicable – if one of you have been unfaithful, then this may be the turning point in your relationship; you will need to talk to each other, and decide if you want to continue in your relationship.

Communication issues

Sometimes there is not one specific reason for wanting to break up. If there are several problems, then you need to discuss each of these. If you are finding it difficult to speak to each other, then you might want to seek professional help, as they can help find the reasons why you have fallen out in the first place. Many times it is simple things which have grown into big problems, and these can be resolved with communication.

At other times, people just grow apart as they have begun to age, and they simply cannot see themselves with the same person in the future. You need to go back to the beginning and remember why you fell in love in the first place; this simple task can often spark the trigger, which reminds you how much you have loved your partner, and maybe still do.

Commitments

If you have commitments together such as a child or a house together, then you should be more inclined to want to work at your relationship. Especially when children are involved, relationship break up advice should be considered only as the last option, and only when all other options of making up are exhausted.

Of course, if you are both really unhappy, then this isn’t healthy for your child as well. Sometimes it is better that a child has two happy parents that live apart, rather than unhappy parents who are together.

Mutual Respect

For any relationship to succeed, you should remember that you need to respect your partner. And you should get it back in equal measure. All relationships are based on equal love and sharing, and as your relationship develops, these little things can be forgotten or taken for granted. You will need to constantly be reminding yourself of all the good things you both have together, and that will increase the chances of your relationship hitting a happy high, for a long time to come.

If your partner has suggested a break up, but you are not sure about it, there are ways to stop your break up or partner’s rejection.

And if you would rather talk to someone about your specific situation, there is Online Relationship Break Up Advice from professional relationship coaches, available live this very moment.

May 4, Walt Disney Biography, Walter Disney – Bio Snippets and Videos

On this page: Snippets from Walt Disney Biography. Refreshing videos and touching tribute to Walt Disney and Micky Mouse.

Who is Walt Disney?

** International icon, and world famous American film producer, director, animator and entertainer. The brain behind Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort Theme parks in U.S., France, Japan and China.

** Founder of Walt Disney Productions, which is the best known motion picture producers in the world, with annual revenues of $ 35 billion USD.

Creator of Micky Mouse, Donald Duck and several other popular cartoon characters.

** Recipient of 59 Academy Award Nominations (and won 26 Oscars, including a record 4 in a year) – more nominations and awards than any other film personality.

Also, recipient of Congressional Gold Medal in 1968, Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1964, France’s highest decoration Légion d’Honneur, and Special Medal from League of Nations.

What is Inspiring about Walt Disney Biography?

While not necessarily a typical rags to riches story – did you know that Walt Disney started two companies and failed twice, and almost lost his entire business and staff a third time, before finally succeeding with the now famous Walt Disney Productions?

Walt Disney developed a love for drawing since a kid, and became a cartoonist for school newspaper in high school. When he later couldn’t get work as an artist, he started out an artist company with a friend of his in 1920, when he was 19 years old.

He subsequently had to close it out and started work in an ad company in Kansas, where he developed an interest in animation. Then he started his own animation business. His cartoons, called “Laugh O’Grams”, were aired in a local theater, and became quite popular.

Disney was soon able to build his own studio, and hired a lot of animators, but quickly went bankrupt as he was unable to manage money with all the employee salaries.

Continue down to Walt Disney Biography

Take Three in Walt Disney Biography – He started another studio, in Hollywood this time, called Disney Brothers, and was able to find a distributor from New York for the live-action animated shorts of his cartoons based on characters from Alice in the Wonderland.

These became reasonable success, when the distributor decided to start his own studio, and took most of Disney’s staff, along with all the cartoon characters – as the trademark was owned by the distributor – leaving Disney out in the cold.

Walt Disney was not the one to be left hanging for a long time, though, and he decided it was time to develop a new cartoon character – and he did it based on a pet mouse he used to have – and the Mickey Mouse was born in 1928.

Mickey became the world’s most popular cartoon character by 1930, and when he soon started having rivals, Disney put him on the top each time, by introducing color into animation, and partially redesigning him each time. Disney himself personally provided vocal effects and performed the voice of Mickey for more than 15 years!

Continue down to Walt Disney Biography

A Tribute to Walt Disney, Mickey Mouse and his Pals

Disney received his first Academy Award (a special award) for the creation of Mickey in 1932, when he was 31 years old. Soon a plethora of cartoon characters were launched by him, Donald Duck being the second most popular character after Mickey.

Disney developed his first full length animated feature film – the classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs – against the advice of his wife and brother, who thought this venture would destroy the Disney Studios.

When released in 1934, Snow White received a standing ovation from the audience, and became a huge success – and this ushered in the “Golden Age of Animation”. Disney went on to secure 8 Oscars (1 regular and 7 miniature ones representing each dwarf) for his effort.

By late 1940s, the Disney empire was already booming when Disney envisioned the theme park idea, and the first Disneyland was opened in Anaheim, California, in 1955. The rest, as they say, is history.

May 3, Natural Sleep Aids, Herbal Sleep Aids, Sleep Maintenance Insomnia

To Help Avoid Over The Counter Sleep Aids

On this page: Ideas for Natural Sleep Aids and Herbal Sleep Aids to counter Sleep Insomnia, instead of using OTC Sleep Aids.

Natural sleep aids or natural sleep remedies offer natural and/or behavior treatments to deal with sleeplessness, and are sometimes a viable alternative to their medicinal counterparts like over the counter sleep aids and prescription sleep aids.

These are sometimes a bit easier on our body, and their focus tends to be towards relaxation of our body as a whole, so that sleep comes naturally to us, as opposed to getting us drugged to sleep.

While professional help is always advised for those suffering from chronic insomnia, below are some possible suggestions that can help our mind and body unwind from daily stress, and gently guide ourselves to sleep.

Natural Sleep Aids

woman for a chair massage - it can help reduce sleep insomnia

1. Massage

A physical massage relaxes our stressed out muscles, and improves the blood flow in our body. That causes us to de-stress naturally, and leads to a good night’s sleep.

While going to a massage professional has its advantages, it is difficult to put that into an every day routine for obvious reasons.

Getting a massage from our partner works just as fine as a daily option.

Or alternatively, we can give one ourselves simply by kneading those stressed out muscles with our hands and fingers in small, circular motions.

If you are interested in more detailed information on various types of massage, you can visit
Sunshine of the Soul

website.

yoga is one of excellent natural sleep aids

2. Meditation

Meditation is another great, natural technique to let us sleep naturally, by putting a pause on those barrage of thoughts that constantly seem to move back and forth in our minds.

By getting us to concentrate on the present, meditation effectively controls those thoughts from straying to the past anxieties or future worries. While there are plenty of ways to meditate, the basic techniques are not complicated, although they do require a bit of a practice.

Focusing on our breathing is usually the starting point, and doing that even for a few minutes before bed time clears our mind of the clutter, and helps us sleep naturally.

3. Yoga

Just like meditation, yoga combines breathing and relaxation, and complements them with stretching, to effectively ease down the tensions in our body and mind.

A Harvard study found that daily yoga for eight weeks improves total sleep time, and reduces the time to fall asleep.

Getting trained by a professional is the best way to get the maximum benefits out of a yoga regimen, and there are plenty of websites that are solely dedicated to the subject.

sleep tracks - natural sleep aids

4. Sleep Audios

Some people listen to sleep inducing audios which are actually designed to influence the electrical activity in the brain, and guide us slowly into deep sleep state.

These audios produce rhythmic pulse that turns on and off at a specified rate, and are known to effectively induce the brain to sleep deeply and naturally.

One such audio program comes from Sleep Tracks, which is one of the most popular sleep products on the internet today.

Sleep Tracks offers a 7-question sleep quiz designed to help you get a clear picture of some of the big mistakes you may be making. You can either take the quiz, or simply scroll to the bottom of that page, to view a video presentation that shows what you can do to get your sleep back.

5. Self Hypnosis

Self Hypnosis is another excellent tool to achieve mental state of simultaneous relaxation and deep concentration.

Read more about how self hypnosis techniques can relax your body and mind deeply enough, to help you slip into sleep in a natural manner.

visualizing relaxing scenes can work as natural sleep aids

6. Visualization

Some people claim success with this technique of visualizing a relaxing scene prior to going to bed.

Spend some time in this relaxing “place” that you let your mind create for you, taking in all its sights, sounds and smells. Stay there for 15 to 20 min prior to sleep time.

Alternatively, we can even repeat a set of visualizations to help produce a state of relaxation; those can eventually work as one of the effective natural sleep aids.

aromatherapy can help avoid over the counter sleep aids

7. Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy involves the use of oils to stimulate the areas of brain that promote relaxation, and ease out tension.

We can put a few drops in a warm bath before going to bed, or apply a bit to our pillow.

This technique is just getting noticed, with research still in works and not yet conclusive, but there are lot of people reporting good results with it.

A Word About Supplements

hormonal and herbal sleep aids may not be the best alternative
There are plenty of natural supplements that are marketed today as natural sleep aids.

Some are hormonal supplements – like Melatonin; while others are herbal sleep aids – the most common ones available being Valerian and Kava.

Not much is known on how Valerian works yet, but it is a known fact that it does not work for everyone. There are several side effects reported – like headaches, indigestion, dizziness and impairment of thinking for a period of time after use.

Kava is another of the herbal sleep aids that is commonly used, but comes with a risk of severe liver damage.

Melatonin is a hormone supplement, which is also well known as a natural sleep aid, and comes with plenty of side effects as well.

It is important to remember that these hormonal and herbal sleep aids are not for everyone. They are not regulated by the US FDA, come with potential side effects and can interact internally with any other medicines you may be taking.

For these reasons, always consult a qualified physician before resorting to any supplements that are presented as natural sleep aids.

If you are unable to stop the incessant chatter going on in your head, preventing you from falling asleep, you can try the Deep Sleep Program, which uses self hypnosis techniques to relax your body and mind deeply enough, to be able to drift off to sleep naturally.

Yes, Benicar can be prescribed for high blood pressure and in some cases it treats heart failure. There are reports from some people that it has caused panic attacks. I don’t know about it helping panic attacks, usually that is completely different type of mechanism the drug would be utilized with panic attacks. Check out the web site below.
