Motivational Movie in the Making?
Press Association* reports that a new motivational movie is in the making, starring Val Kilmer. It’s an experimental project worked on independently by 3 different directors in 3 different countries (US, Russia and Poland), each filmmaker following the same brief designed by the project director. Kilmer plays himself in the movie, but as a motivational speaker.
So if you like motivational movies, this sounds like an interesting one to wait for.
Meanwhile, here are few motivational videos to get your spirits going.

If a former inmate can do it, so can you!
Here is a motivational story to get your weekend started on a high…
An Oregon newspaper* reports that a former prison inmate, Dave Dahl, who had spent 15 years in prisons, and even attempted suicide once, now runs a bread company that does $ 40 million in sales a year!
Well, it wasn’t an easy ride for him, of course, and the first couple of years after his release were really rocky, as he says, in transitioning back to life in the real world, and dealing with his unresolved issues.
He now employs more than 80 ex-felons in his bread company, and says that giving a second chance is a powerful thing.
“Being in prison was necessary for me, I needed to suffer to quit”, he says. He’s now back in there, this time as a motivational speaker, to speak with inmates about being able to make a change in their lives.
While a prison may not be what most of us need to get motivated, we can sure draw lessons from Dave’s life, in doing what we can to get to where we want to be. Here are few self motivation tips and other tools to enhance your motivation, and help you in the process.

Low Self Esteem: Is it in Your Genes?
UCLA scientists* have recently discovered that self esteem, optimistic tendencies, and one’s ability to cope with stress can apparently be linked to a particular gene in our body!
The gene was found to have two variants, “A” and “G”. Researchers found that people with at least one “A” variant of this gene are more sensitive to stress, less optimistic, have poorer social skills, and lower self esteem – compared to those with two “G” variants.
Well, before you go blame it all on your genes, however, the researchers are quick to warn that while genes do predict human behavior, they do not determine how we behave. Other factors like family, friends, environment and even other genes interact to determine our final behavior.
In other words, even if you have an “A” variant of this gene, it doesn’t interfere with your working on improving your self esteem, and learning coping skills like Cognitive Behavior Modification.

Do You Smile Often Enough?
Do you know that the simple act of smiling can uplift your mood, relieve your stress, and keep you positive?
If you are tired after a day’s work, try smiling with your spouse or kids. If you are downcast about something, give yourself a smile. If you feel negative thoughts cropping in your mind, see if a smile can help fix that.
When we smile, it’s like our body is sending a message to our brain that “Everything’s OK!” And that can end up helping change our mood – for real!
